Your etsy shop looks great. The only suggestion I have is that it's helpful to see a photo of the fabric with some context - i.e. a person holding it or a zoomed-out shot of the bolt, something to get an idea of the scale of the pattern.

Good luck with your shop. Suggest checking thefabricshopperonline.com & get your shop listed there.

My only advice would be to hang in there. I am doing the same thing in Australia and sometimes it's tough, especially as I don't have a huge stock level but keep going, networking. I have started a Newsletter too with a small offering for subscribers every month. Good luck

I visited your etsy store and I think I like the Amy Butler Trailing Cherry fabric best. I don't have any advice about promoting your etsy store, but I'll be checking back to see what others suggest.

Visited your shop...and I would like more organic cotton fabrics?? Sigh... cotton is an addiction, but the cotton itself is addicted to pesticides in huge quantities. Can I still win AMH's fabrics?! ( ;

What an incredible color palette!!! I love the patterns and the colors. I have so many thoughts about quilts that would let you feature such bold prints in all their glory.

Corky said...

I love the owl wallets! But I can't decide if i like the gold print better or the pink one. I think the pink! So fun!

Corky said...

suggestion: Just keep up the great work, get as much coverage as you can, connect with the One Pretty Thing blog so you can get one of your items shown on her site, offer variety packs and freebies, tutorial are always inspirational. Thanks for the giveaway!

I just checked out your store, and you've got some great fabric for sale! I think my favourite thing of all is that you are giving larger orders a discount. It would be great if you offered a mix'n'match option, too!

Sheila said...

I think that if there is anything lacking from your current site, it's a clear set of shipping price policies. I like to shove as much in an order as possible to save on shipping (I'm in Canada), so that's one of the first places I look when finding a new Etsy shop.

Here's a good example: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ThistleHillFabrics/policy

I really like Patty Young's newest line, Sanctuary. I love how it's a mix of florals and graphic prints.

Jen B said...

My piece of advice advice is to make different categories for the fabrics to organization purposes on the Etsy site (by manufacturer or designer, for example.)

I visited your store and the fabrics you carry are lovely. I think Midwest Modern is such a classic line. Good luck with your business-when I'm shopping online price is my number one consideration but I'm also a sucker for pre-cut bundles.

The Kitty Yoshida city girl set is gorgeous one of my favorite of what you carry.

Advice: Don't overcharge on shipping and have some destash sales so your buyers feel as though they are getting a deal on occasion.

Alecia said...

Would LOVE to see some of the new Cloud 9 flannel in your shop! Your prices are so reasonable!

Anonymous said...

In your shop I would like to see more variety of fabric.

I love the fabric that the pouches are made from. I would like to see those fabrics available by the yard.

Looking forward to following your blog! And maybe winning some fabric!

Kelly said...

Wow! This is a fantastic giveaway! Best of luck with the new store!

Kelly said...

The best advice to a new store owner would be strive for the best customer service. The shops that have the most repeat business are not always the ones with the cheapest prices, but the ones who ship quickly, handle issues effectively, and go out of their way to make the customer happy.

on new seller "advice" - i've never sold anything online, but I'm attracted to shops that are fresh with frequent changes to "featured fabrics", who send newsletters and have tutorials. I like your shop and selection!

My favorite fabric in the shop is the AB martini olive in rust.

JennyG said...

I'm not a seller, so I don't have great advice on that end. But as someone who likes to buy fabric on etsy, I have to say I'm a sucker for a freebie/super sale item. The $1 FQ of the week gets me every time.

My only suggestion is try to find the hard to get fabric - maybe find a wholesale fabric outlet that sells things that are out of print at discount prices - I'm sure there is someone in the world wide web looking for that fabric

lkeber said...

I'm kinda having a hard time judging the scale of the designs. Because I'm looking for 2-3 fabrics to coordinate together for a project, I need to make sure they go together how I think they will, based on the swatches I've seen. My suggestion would be to put a small ruler at the bottom of your photo swatches. Other than that: great job! I love 'em!
